Live Preview Reference

Live Preview lets you see continuously refreshed output while you edit a template in the Fluent Designer.

You can start Live Preview in DOCX or PDF mode from the Fluent ribbon, keep editing, and the preview updates automatically.

caution

As of version 26.2.0, the Live Preview feature is only supported in Microsoft Word.

In addition, the viewer will display a watermark for the output since a demo license is used. This ensures no live preview runs are counted against your pages.

Start Live Preview​

  1. Open your template in Microsoft Word.
  2. Save the document first.
  3. On the Fluent ribbon, open Live Preview.
  4. Choose Live Preview DOCX or Live Preview PDF.

If Live Preview starts successfully, the viewer opens and updates as the template is edited.

Stop Live Preview​

  1. On the Fluent ribbon, select Stop Live Preview.
  2. Live Preview will also stop if you close the Viewer window.

Live Preview also stops automatically when Designer disconnects.

Troubleshooting Live Preview​

Live Preview does not start​

  • Confirm the template is saved.
  • Check that both Live Preview component executables are present in the Designer install.
  • Restart Office and try again.
  • Information about the failures can be found in the Designer logs.

If startup still fails, Designer shows a Live Preview warning dialog with startup details when available.

Viewer opens but stops updating​

  • Verify Live Preview is still running in the ribbon state.
  • If the runner was closed externally, start Live Preview again.
  • Try stopping and restarting Live Preview to reset the session.
